The minute I saw Ketchikan's fishing fleet, I immediately thought of the sturdy ponies of the Mongolian Steppe.
Yes, they're a little short and stubby. But like those ponies, these boats are tough as hell and safely carry fishermen deep into the Bering Sea where they fish for crab, halibut, and more.
They are also an absolute delight to photograph!
