Smashing San Miguel de Allende (40x60 cm / 16x24)
I confess that San Miguel de Allende -- aka SMdA -- was very low on my list of places to live.
I'd heard it was too touristy, too inauthentic, too run over by gringos, and I figured, "Yeah, hard pass."
Boy was I wrong. Yes, it's touristy, but most of those tourists are Mexicans, so how is that inauthentic?
Yes, there are a lot of gringos, but honestly, without the gringos, SMdA might have slowly faded away.
Instead, it's an incredibly vibrant, colorful place and I absolutely loved our three months there!
